Farther from a continental landfall than any other group of islands on earth, the twelve Marquesas jut out of the open Pacific just south of the equator, shrouded in a constant cloud cover.

It's the largest of the three U.S. Virgin Islands, lying 40 miles south of St. Thomas and St. John. While its history is laced with tales of pirates and privateers, the island today maintains a slower, more quiet pace than its sisters to the north.

Exhilarating Rio de Janeiro, the vibrant South American destination and cultural capital, abounds with iconic landmarks, beaches, and attractions. Seclusion is the name of the game on Lizard. It's a large national-park island and surrounded by Osprey Island, Seabird Islet, South and Palfrey islands. Lizard has special historical interest due to Captain Cook's visit. It also has fine diving and fishing possibilities, 23 superb beaches (among the reef's best) and great swimming and snorkelling.

Georgia's second largest city, it is located between the Caspian and Black seas. Dating back to at least the sixth century, it has outstanding museums.
