Mljet National Park sits on the western side of Mljet Island in Croatia’s Adriatic Sea, a place where saltwater lakes meet ancient forest pathways. The park stretches across nearly one-third of the island, with Veliko Jezero (Great Lake) and Malo Jezero (Small Lake) as their most striking features. These two saltwater lakes are connected by a narrow channel to the open sea, creating calm blue waters that draw visitors for swims, casual kayak outings, or peaceful cycles around the shaded paths.
El Calafate, a small town in southern Patagonia, serves as the main gateway to one of Argentina’s most spectacular natural wonders, the Los Glaciares National Park. Sitting on the shores of Lake Argentino, El Calafate was once a quiet outpost known mainly for sheep farming and the hardy calafate berry. Today, it attracts travelers from around the world who come to witness massive ice formations and the shifting blue walls of nearby glaciers.
Gdynia is a Baltic Sea port city in northern Poland, forming part of the Tricity urban area with Gdańsk and Sopot. Its character is closely connected to the sea, with a large commercial harbor, marinas, beaches, and a waterfront city center. Collioure, just before the Spanish border, aims its charms at its own people. It's the ideal small town-without-the-glitz antidote to condo city Riviera. Like an ice cream shop, Collioure offers 31 flavors of pastel houses and six petite scooped-out beach-sprinkled lightly with beachgoers. This sweet scene, capped by Collioure's winking lighthouse, sits under a once-mighty castle in the shade of the Pyrenees. The ambience of Collioure is what was so charming about the Cote d'Azur back before the introduction of the paid vacation turned the Riviera into France's holiday beach.
