High on a hill, dominating the sea, Loreto is a small city that lives solely for the "Santa Casa", one of the most famous and revered monuments of Christianity. According to tradition, it was the Virgin Mary's birth house, which up until that time was kept intact and venerated in Palestine, then flown by angels from Nazareth to the Adriatic Coast and set on a green hill of laurels on the night of December 10, 1294; hence the name Loreto.
Situated at the confluence of the rivers Merwede and Noord, Dordrecht is one of the Netherlands' oldest cities, rich in history and character from its charming medieval center and picturesque canals to its beautiful historic buildings. With its intricate network of canals and waterways, the city once played a key role in the Dutch Golden Age and is home to the Biesbosch National Park, one of the largest national parks in the Netherlands.
Ilha Grande, an island off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state, is a place where tropical forest and coastline meet in striking harmony. Once a pirate hideout and later the site of a penal colony, it has evolved into one of Brazil’s most remarkable island destinations. With no cars allowed and no large resorts, the island moves at a different pace, where footpaths and boats are the main ways to get around.
